Join us for our monthly Beyond the Press (artist in residence) open studio with Kalli Arte at Self Help Graphics & Art.

About this event

SHG is excited to kick off the monthly Open Studio with Beyond the Press artists in residence Kalli Arte. The Open Studio is an opportunity to engage with the artists, ask questions and see their work in progress. Stop by Thursday, March 17, from 3–7 pm.

Kalli Arte is formed by self-taught artists and printmakers Adriana Carranza and Alfonso Aceves from Boyle Heights.

Beyond The Press invites one interdisciplinary artist to create a new body of work over the course of a year. The work created during the residency will culminate with an exhibition in SHG’s 1,200 square foot gallery space. Artists are selected through a nomination process and by invitation only. Once an artist is nominated, they are contacted and invited to complete an online application and submit work samples.

Beyond The Press is SHG's new iteration of the Artist in Residence (AIR) program that invites interdisciplinary artists to create a new body of work over six month period.
