The Art of well-being
The Art of Well-Being initiative began in the fall of 2020 as a series of artworks commissioned to promoted healthy COVID-19 practices. The debut collection, produced with DCA partner, LA Commons, featured artists from South Central Los Angeles. The series continues in 2021 with community partners Self-Help Graphics & Art and 11:11 A Creative Collective presenting eighteen artists from Los Angeles, particularly from East LA and the San Fernando Valley.
Participating artists from Self Help Graphics & Art include: Daniel Gonzalez, Delmi "De Marte" Martinez, Oscar Rodriguez, Gabby Claro, Cynthia Navarro, Arleny Varga, Dewey Tafoya, Priscilla Hernandez, Sophia Garcia, Vanya Navarette, Liliflor Ramirez and Tenely “Clover” Garcia.
The Art of Well-Being initiative is a collaborative effort between the City of Los Angeles, the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the Emergency Management Department, Self Help Graphics & Art, and 11:11 A Creative Collective.
we rise
WE RISE 2022: BY US, FOR US is a series of community-led events that support health and healing across Los Angeles County.
Self Help Graphics & Art is returning as a WE RISE partner as part of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, offering free art and wellness programs and workshops all month, centered around a plant-filled outdoor garden art installation created by the artists Martha Carrillo, Monica Perez, and Joan Zeta!
