About Zeque:
Zeque (Zeke) Peña is a cartoonist and illustrator working on the US/MX frontera in El Paso, Tejas. He uses comics to remix American history and reclaim stories that were burned by colonialism; he creates resistance one cartoon at a time. He illustrated a graphic biography titled Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide (Getty Publications 2017) which received the Boston Globe Horn Book Award. He has also published work with VICE.com, Latino USA, The Believer Magazine, The Nib, Cinco Puntos Press and Plays Inverse. Currently he is working on a forthcoming children’s book written by Isabel Quintero to be released with Kokila, a Penguin Books imprint in 2019. He is also working on a few comic and book projects including an illustrated history of the US/MX Border.
