Our Artist Lab: In the Studio takes place live on Instagram on Wednesday, March 9 at 12:30 p.m. PST! Take a lunch break and join SHG's Artist Lab with Phung Huynh. She will talk about her silkscreen prints created for her upcoming exhibition, Donut (W)hole, at SHG and the body of work that highlights the lives and stories of Cambodian refugees and their children.
Phung Huynh is a Los Angeles-based artist and educator whose practice is primarily in drawing, painting, and public art. Her work explores cultural perception and representation. Her most current drawings on pink donut boxes and cross-stitched, personalized California license plates explore the complexities of the refugee experience in Southeast Asian communities. Phung Huynh has exhibited nationally and internationally. She has also completed public art commissions for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro Orange Line, Metro Silver Line, and Metro Neighborhood Poster Series) and the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Phung Huynh is currently a Professor of Art at Los Angeles Valley College.
