The Boyle Heights Building Healthy Communities partnership hosted its annual Convivio, a music participatory workshop, in the San Fernando Valley. On March 12, 2019, members of the Invest in Youth Campaign headed to Pacoima City Hall to participate in this convivio or collective songwriting workshop to create a corrido influenced by the narratives of the youth participants. SHG provided live screen printing for this workshop to support the Invest in Youth Coalition initiative, courtesy of our Barrio Mobile Art Studio program.

These Convivios are part of the Invest in Youth Campaign through BH BHC and are being launched throughout Los Angeles to gather the needs of the youth for a department dedicated towards their benefit. Convivios are a way to have a conversation about social justice and build a connection between youth and the community; and are hosted by the Alliance of California Traditional Arts (ACTA), Legacy LA and Self Help Graphics & Art; with additional support from the Office of Councilmember Monica Rodriguez of Council District 7.
