Dongeun Lee’s Untitled piece was created in part of the “Utopia/Dystopia” portfolio, curated by artist Miyo Stevens-Gandara. Miyo invited 26 artists to each pick two cards from a full deck, incorporating a diverse range of interpretations and ideas into a single, unified collection. Here, Lee experiments with color and form to create contrasts in terms of vibrancy and fullness between the two pieces.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Lee was raised in a family heavily supportive of participating in the arts, including painting and other media. Her father was the founder and director of The Phone Museum in Korea and her mother a painter, therefore she was encouraged to explore artistic forms of expression. She enjoys experimenting with color, form, and figure to represent her imagination and confidence.

Lee received her B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art from the University Arts of London, and has had several solo exhibitions in Korea and the United Kingdom. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions and projects, including serving as the deputy curator of The Phone Museum, as well as producing and directing moving image and film projects. She currently attends Rio Hondo College.
