Remembering Chicana Civic Leader and Artist, Gloria Molina
It is with a heavy heart that we learn of the passing of Gloria Molina. Gloria has been a staunch advocate and ambassador of our community's artistic and cultural legacy for decades. Self Help Graphics & Art was briefly the headquarters for The East LA Stitchers, TELAS, where Gloria enacted her own creativity in community.
Her legacy goes beyond her elected roles and will have continued ripple effects through the establishment of La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, and her founding of the Eastside Art Alliance fund for the arts. At Self Help Graphics, her impact is forever stamped through a foundational contribution toward the acquisition of our building during her tenure as County Supervisor.
Even in recent years, she would ensure Self Help Graphics impact in the community was elevated on national and international platforms by bringing us into spaces (virtually and in person) with her to present on our work and the incredible artistic talent of the Eastside. This commitment to service is where Gloria's heart would show and we are deeply grateful to have been in community with her.
Rest in power, Gloria.
