Self Help Graphics & Art Partners with Google Arts & Culture

By: Jennifer Cuevas

Latino Art Now on Google Art & Culture’s platform, features the contemporary work of Latina/o/x artists for this year Latino Heritage Month.

Earlier this summer, the Self Help Graphics & Art team met with the developers of Google Arts & Culture, with a goal of creating a digital archive of our artworks accessible for the masses. As an organization dedicated to printmaking and public art accessibility, we moved quickly to establish the creation of this project, just in time for Latinx Heritage Month!

Our story and artworks are now available on the Google Arts & Culture website and in their Latino Art Now dedicated page, as well as their #Keyword blog as part of their Hispanic Heritage Month initiative. Google Arts & Culture is accessible online via desktop and mobile devices, as well as on their free app for IOS and Android phones.

Explore Latino Art Now
Within the Latino Art Now dedicated website, Self Help Graphics & Art is featured with more than 52 national arts institutions, such as the National Museum of Mexican Art, the Museum of Latin American Art, Museo de Las Americas, and Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, among others.

Our prints are prominently featured in the Latino Art Now story and its dedicated printmaking sections titled What Does Printmaking Mean Now? and The Rise and Impact of Chicano Graphics, highlighting the rich cultural history of our nearly 50-year-old cultural arts organization, and our involvement in art accessibility and education in Los Angeles and the nation.

Learn About Our Legacy
Self Help Graphics & Art has its own dedicated page on the platform that serves as an introduction to the organization and the decades of fine art printmaking that has been produced in our Professional Printmaking studio, primarily by BIPOC artists. The public can read about the organization and click on images from our collection over the years to learn about the year it was created and the artist who developed the print. From printmaking and workshops, to exhibitions and Self Help’s Día de Los Muertos legacy in Los Angeles, Google features the organization as a cultural leader in Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x Art.

Self Help Graphics & Art is proud to be a Google Arts & Culture partner organization, and we look forward to featuring our exhibitions, stories and vast archive on the platform. To view the full story, visit our Google Arts & Culture page here.
