DIY Screen-printing (every 3rd Saturday of the Month)

Attendees are required to bring two transparency copies of an original black and white image, no bigger than 8 1/2″ X 11″. Limited number of screens available for purchase. Bring paper and a blank t-shirt or 2 to print your work of art on!

Day One-Materials & Planning

Materials: Carving tools, Relief Blocks (Linoleum, wood, Styrofoam), Paper, Inks
Preparing an image: Planning – Key block & color block, Transferring, Registration

Day Two – Carving & Proofing
Carving tools and techniques, Sharpening, Proofing the key block, Cleanup

Day Three – Printing
Print shop etiquette, Inking, brayers, & rollers, Printing an edition, Registration

Day Four – Curating an edition
Techniques for cleaning up prints, Numbering & signing practices

Multi-plate Relief/Drypoint/Collagraph Printmaking #2
Saturday, August 6, 13 & 20 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

This class will explore the possibilities that multi-plate relief printmaking offers when combined with drypoint and collagraph. No previous background in printmaking is required but is helpful.

Emphasis will be placed on developing a high level of craftsmanship and aesthetic conceptualization for the prints produced in the workshop.

Experimentation and creative exploration of ideas and techniques will be promoted.

Participants are encouraged to bring sketches, drawings and any other source of inspiration to class in order to develop their individual projects.

Each participant will produce an edition of no les than 10 signed and numbered prints printed on Rising Stonehenge Warm White 250 Gms Printmaking Paper. SHG will keep 20% of the edition produced by each participant for its collection.
