HERE WE ARE, ENTERTAIN US! An Exhibition by Victor Rosas
Friday, May 24
7PM - 9PM FREE
Self Help Graphics & Art 1300 East 1st Street Los Angeles, CA 90033
Victor Rosas migrated to Los Angeles over 15 years ago from Jalapa, Veracruz when he was a teenager. Studying printmaking with renown printmaker, Poli Marichal and other Eastside print artists, he became one of the members of Los de Abajo print collective. Victor’s work conveys graphic humor, morbidity, obscurity, and offense, with a unique Jalpa/Los Angeles visual aesthetic.
Join Victor Rosas on Friday, May 24 at 7pm at Self Help Graphics & Art for his first solo exhibit, Here We Are, Entertain Us! The exhibition features linoleum & wood cuts, drypoint and etchings printed on traditional and found materials, as well as an interactive environment where the artist and audience act as performers, exploring human behavioral tendencies that assume a specific outcome per status quo.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Self Help Graphics & Art's 39th Annual Día de los Muertos Celebration Recuerdos Que Nunca Mueren (Memories That Never Die) Use the Goldline Metro (Pico/Aliso Stop) - No Parking On Site!

Self Help Graphics & Art, the first in the country to create a free public celebration of Day of the Dead, welcomes the community every year to its Día de los Muertos Celebration on November 2nd. Through the leadership and initiation of local artists since 1973, Self Help Graphics celebrates this holiday in its own unique way. As in the different Mexican regions, Self Help Graphics’ celebration is distinct to the East Side artistic community it represents. Every year, on November 2nd, Self Help Graphics’ yearly day of remembering that life is a dream from which, one day we will awaken, celebrates our beloved who are no longer with us. Every year we paint our faces in duality -- half calaca and half ourselves, revealing the ancient comedy of life as our ancestors have taught us.
